Paintings - Petals

3 The "Petals" I paint are usually in season. From peonies to beargrass, they impress and humble me! The variety, especially in the mountains in early July, never ceases to astound me. Have you been in Eastern North Dakota and seen field after field of sunflowers with their faces toward the light following a circadian rhythm? Inspiration for sure! A high point of my plein air painting was in Monet's garden at Giverny. The day was overcast, and the site was closed, but we artists were given unique entry and orders to staying out of gardeners' way. It was the most moving place to create, knowing the fame and beauty that had gone before.
